“Monmouthshire continues to show that when we work as one, we can achieve a great deal.” - Council Leader Mary Ann Brocklesby
Monmouthshire United – celebrating progress across our communities
Across Monmouthshire, there’s plenty to be positive about.
From investment in schools and roads, to support for local communities, transport progress and national recognition for our towns, the past few months have shown what can be achieved when communities, volunteers, local organisations and public services work together.
As Council Leader Mary Ann Brocklesby recently said:
“Monmouthshire continues to show that when we work as one, we can achieve a great deal.”
Here’s just some of what’s been happening across Monmouthshire recently.
More Investment into Roads and Repairs
Residents consistently tell us that roads and transport matter – and additional investment is being made to respond.
Extra funding is supporting resurfacing work, pothole repairs and wider highways improvements across Monmouthshire, alongside investment in footpaths, rights of way and active travel routes.
Work is continuing in communities right across the county to improve local infrastructure and keep Monmouthshire moving.
Progress on Magor and Undy Station
After years of local campaigning and community support, progress continues towards the delivery of Magor and Undy Walkway Station.
The project represents a major step forward for local transport connections and sustainable travel in Monmouthshire, helping connect communities and create new opportunities for residents and businesses alike.
Alongside this, work connected to improving wider transport links around Severn Tunnel Junction and the M48 corridor also continues to move forward.
Backing Our Schools and Young People
Education continues to be at the heart of Monmouthshire’s future.
Attendance has improved, standards are rising and outcomes for learners remain among the strongest in Wales.
Major projects such as the new King Henry VIII 3-19 School reflect a long-term commitment to giving every child the best possible start in life.
There’s also been plenty to celebrate locally – including the fantastic production of Legally Blonde by pupils at Monmouth Comprehensive School, showcasing the creativity, confidence and talent of young people across the county.
